Manchester based gin producer Didsbury Gin has today announced that they’ll be providing Greater Manchester Police with disinfectant products for the foreseeable future, by switching up production to manufacture hand sanitisers.
The local brand was created by two Manchester entrepreneurs, and they say they are proud to be supporting a pillar of the Mancunian community during these uncertain times.
“The Chancellor’s recent comments about ‘being judged by our capacity for compassion’ really struck a chord with us during last week’s statement,” says Liam Manton, founder of Didsbury Gin.
“We are extremely proud to be doing our bit for the community during this difficult time.”
The announcement follows news that independent UK brewer BrewDog has started making their own hand sanitiser amid shortages across the UK, to be given out to charities and community groups.
Didsbury Gin has grown from strength to strength since its inception in 2017.
Last year saw the brand launch a new collaboration that saw them team up with Oldham MasterChef winner Simon Wood for a new Tutti Frutti flavour to be stocked at Aldi stores nationwide.
It followed a £75,000 investment early last year from Dragon’s Den, when the local brand made national headlines.
And the hand sanitiser isn’t the only supportive gesture from the gin producers.
Didsbury Gin are also providing a 25% discount across their products with free delivery for all NHS staff, police and fire services.
