Billing itself as ‘Manchester’s only slab shack’, Lazy Tony’s Lasagneria launched in lockdown and immediately gained a cult following.

Now, the takeaway favourite is set to move into the basement space below Alvarium in the Northern Quarter.

Lazy Tony’s will take over from Black Leaf, a vegan restaurant launched in September 2020 by Masterchef: The Professionals semi-finalist Adam Leavy, and will open on Friday 29th April.

Diners can expect hefty portions of their signature lasagne made with fresh egg pasta, with classic, veggie and vegan options as well as specials, alongside mac n cheese with three cheese sauce, hand cut twice cooked fries, sides and desserts.

“Black Leaf has taken the decision to spread their wings and find a new home,” said Alvarium on Instagram.

“We’ve loved having them and although we are exceptionally sad to see them leave, we are so happy we were able to give them the opportunity to build their brand in our kitchen.

“We are aware they have big plans and we are excited to see where they will go from here.

“This means our kitchen has now been opened up to support another local, independent business who have been struggling to find their own space to flourish.

“From Friday the 29th April, we will be welcoming @lazytonyslasagneria into our restaurant downstairs.

“Lazy Tony’s are hyped for this opportunity and we’re excited to bring them in and see where we can take the Alvarium brand alongside their partnership.

“Although we will be sad to part ways with Black Leaf, our space has always been one which allows small brands to grow into their own.

“
Lazy Tony’s started in lockdown and immediately gained a great following.

“Each section of their menu has both veggie and vegan options and they, like ourselves and Black Leaf, are focussed on becoming a concept that you know and love.

“We look forward to seeing what Black Leaf will become in the future, and what Lazy Tony’s Lasagneria have in store for us!”

Lazy Tony’s Lasagneria will open in the basement space below Alavarium, 8 Dorsey Street, M4 1LU on Friday 29th April 2022.
