An Ice Tiki bar is opening in Manchester for festive fun and giant ice bowl cocktails

If you like your cocktails on ice and served in a seriously cool setting – rejoice.

Because Manchester is getting a dedicated Ice Tiki Bar for the first time as part of the Manchester Christmas Markets.

The ice bar will launch as part of the new-look Ice Village Manchester at Cathedral Gardens, which will open on Friday, November 8th.

Organisers say that, by popular request, they’re installing a considerably larger and dedicated ice bar this year and are promising a “frozen slice of the South Pacific”.

Expect Easter Island ‘Moai’ ice statues, exotic cocktails, and a Polynesian Christmas party ambience.

They reckon it will be the world’s first Tiki Bar made of ice, and the entirely separate adults-only ice bar will be furnished with incredible ice sculptures and fun photo-ops.

Admission to the Ice Tiki Bar is via a separate ticket to the other Ice Village attractions, and includes a tropical cocktail or mocktail served in an ice glass.

Cocktails include a cheeky dark rum based Manc-ini, and a playful vodka-based Sex On The Snow, while there’ll also be a choice of warming shots that might come in handy given the temperature.

For extra razzmatazz, deluxe shareable giant ice bowls are available by special pre-order. These super-size cocktail showstoppers, presented with sparklers and umbrellas and served in a solid ice bowl, could well be the ultimate festive treat.

With a temperature of -8ºC in the Ice Tiki Bar, thermal capes will be provided – so Hawaiian shirts and lei garlands are most definitely optional.

The bar will open as part of the Ice Cavern, which this year will have a theme of mythical beasts and royal regalia so expect unicorns, griffins and a frozen royal castle.

There will also be special themed events over the festive period including romantic date nights, student nights, a dungeon and dragons cosplay takeover and an LGBTQ+ Canal Street takeover.

The Ice Village will also boast a new ice rink with a clear roof this year so you can skate under the stars, and in all weathers.

Booking for the Ice Tiki Bar is now open with tickets from £15 per person which includes one cocktail or mocktail in an ice glass and is strictly for over-18s only.
