Historic Salford pub the Black Friar, based on Blackfriars Road, has launched a brand-new outdoor garden, serving British-inspired grub and an artisanal gin menu curated with Didsbury Gin.

After launching exclusively for local residents last weekend, the all new Black Friar Garden Bar is now open to the public and is the perfect spot to relax and soak up some rays.

The bar and outdoor kitchen will be open every day the sun shines, Tuesday-Sunday.

Having teamed up with Didsbury Gin, the Black Friar Garden Bar features an exclusive gin menu to enjoy – alongside all the usual Black Friar offerings, including classic and signature gin cocktails, cooling spritzers and bigger concoctions to share.

Having won praise from local and national press for his menu, award-winning chef Ben Chaplin and his team are now turning their attention outdoors for a new dining experience.

A new state-of-the-art Gozney wood fire oven will serve up British inspired (and wallet-friendly) dishes all day long – perfect for sharing.

New items include British topped flatbreads, an epic ploughman’s platter, and whole honey glazed British ham hock with beetroot slaw and freshly baked bread.

Food from the Garden Menu will be served late into the night, and the á la carte menu will also continue to be served daily from 12pm in the pub, restaurant and garden.

Happy Hour in the garden, restaurant and pub runs from 4pm – 6.30pm every weekday, and includes £4 pints, £15 wine bottles and £5 classic cocktails.

“We have arguably the best beer garden in Manchester,” said owner and operator, Neil Burke.

“A beautiful green space, it’s ideal for kicking back and enjoying being outside.

“This new bar and more casual food offering is an exciting addition to the garden, and means we can welcome even more people to join us at the Black Friar.

“Whether for a drink, a nibble, a full meal, or a private party – we just can’t wait to show off this beautiful new space!”
