A crisp G&T in the sunshine is one of life’s great pleasures, whether it’s lounging in a deckchair in the garden or accompanying a picnic.

And the demand for canned cocktails shows no signs of slowing down, with many popular brands now offering a ready to drink range.

After all, it’s hard to beat the convenience of a pre-mixed can – no need to carry bottles, glasses or mixers – and you can recycle the can when you’re done.

Now, Didsbury Gin have got in on the act, with some beautifully designed cans to boot.

Didsbury Gin’s 25cl cans include Raspberry & Elderflower Gin & Tonic, Blood Orange & Ginger Gin & Tonic, Strawberry & Sicilian Lemon Gin & Tonic, and Tutti Frutti Gin Fizz, all using natural flavourings.

The last of these is inspired by a dessert created by local chef Simon Wood, winner of Masterchef in 2015.

Manchester gin-thusiasts Mark Smallwood and Liam Manton created Didsbury Gin in 2017 and the brand has gone from strength-to-strength since their Dragon’s Den appearance in January 2018.

“I love to support local brands and when Liam and Mark asked if I wanted to collaborate with them, I couldn’t wait to make Tutti Frutti into a gin!” said Simon about his gin, which originally launched last year.

“Tutti Frutti literally translates as all the fruits. My dessert from the MasterChef final is my very own Citrus Tutti Frutti. It’s made up of all the citrus fruit, lemon, lime, ruby grapefruit, vanilla and passion fruit. A great mix for a really tasty gin.”

The new ready to drink launch comes on the back of a successful year for the local drinks business, which last month announced that domestic sales surpassed the £1m mark.

“As a nation of gin lovers, we are very much in the midst of the gin-naissance, so what better time to make our range stand out from the crowd even further than with an extended range of canned flavoured gin & tonics,” said co-founder Liam.

“We know our customers love the variety of flavours in the original format, so it was only a matter of time before we made a RTD version for those on the go.”

The range retails at £8 for a four-pack, and 12-packs are also available. You can get the cans at Booths supermarkets across the region as well as Didsbury Gin’s online shop. And if you’re into fruity summer gins, don’t forget to check out our I Love MCR pink strawberry jam gin, too!
