One of Manchester’s favourite Italian restaurants, Salvi’s, will soon be opening a new site in the city’s Northern Quarter.
The family-run independent specialises in authentic Southern Italian cuisine and already have three restaurants in the city centre: a deli and mozzarella bar in the Corn Exchange, and its Cucina and adjoining Pizzeria Napoletana on John Dalton Street.
Owner Maurizio Cecco is also the director of the UK’s biggest and best Italian street food festival Festa Italiana, now entering its third year here in Manchester.
The new restaurant will be situated on High Street next to original popular Aussie brunch spot Federal and is set to open to the public in the next eight weeks after Festa Italiana 2019 has come to an end.
An exciting new addition to the Northern Quarter’s Italian offering, it will be located just around the corner from The Pasta Factory on Shudehill – another popular choice for authentic Italian dining.
As part of the move to the Northern Quarter, the team will be introducing some different methods of cooking that their chefs don’t currently use at any of their other restaurants. For now, though, they’re keeping quiet about what these will be.
The new restaurants’ menu will showcase Maurizio’s favourite ingredients and produce, using only the finest Italian ingredients flown in from all over Italy to produce the most authentic dishes. Italian cuisine is, after all, all about the quality of its ingredients.
And it will introduce some new dishes to Manchester currently not available anywhere else in the city, promising popular Neapolitan pizza and pasta plates alongside some beautiful Southern Italian fish and meat dishes.
There will also be a selection of tasty starters and small plates, intended to be shared over a drink or two in true Italian style.
The bar will be well stocked with fine Italian wine and beers, as well as an elegantly-curated cocktail list showcasing popular aperitivos and Italian cocktails, such as Negroni and Aperol Spritz.
Like the original Corn Exchange restaurant, the new Northern Quarter site will have space outside for al fresco dining – sure to be popular this summer, as the new location is quite the sun trap.
A welcome new addition to the city’s dining scene, we look forward to finding out what innovations the new restaurant will introduce when it opens later this summer.
