Everyone has a list of places they love to visit in Greater Manchester – but what’s your favourite?

This was the question posted by user SophieL628 on online forum Reddit, asking: “What’s your favourite part in the whole of Greater Manchester?”.

From reservoirs and canals to parks and botanical gardens, people were quick to answer – and many hotspots appeared several times.

Didsbury’s Fletcher Moss Park, the Saddleworth Moors, Daisy Nook and the Bridgewater canal were all among the answers.

“Daisy Nook in Oldham. Grew up near it in the 70’s. Went all the time as a kid,” said one response by user beef5570.

“Yeah but do you pronounce it daisy nUCK or daisy nOOk?” came a reply from Smol9.

“I like the little park between Deansgate and Castlefield, behind the Everyman theatre,” said Truffle–Shuffle, with another user replying about St John’s Gardens: “Aww I love it there. I like to sit on the bench toward the edge of the park. It reminds me of a beautiful park in Bucharest that I miss.”

Melodic-Guitar192 said: “Fletcher Moss Park in Didsbury. What a good one to suggest, it’s lovely there, lovely pubs to visits as well right next to it. I sat at the cafe in Fletcher Moss Park once, it’s so pretty there.”

User Danze1984 answered: “Saddleworth/Dovestones or Hollingworth Lake.”

TheGreatBoar said: “Castlefield canal where you see the difference between the old red brick and Beetham Tower is absolutely gorgeous.”

Theprofileguy answered: “Diggle Delph in Denshaw,” while Altruistic-Rich-7809 said: “Ramsbottom, great little village with lots of great shops, pubs & places to eat. Surrounded by the hills and some great walks and a lovely view of Manchester up at Holcombe Tower.”

“Was there last weekend – those views are something else!” came a reply.

“The stretch of road sandwiched between Quay St and Palatine Rd: starting at the top Peter St then going through Oxford St, Oxford Rd and finally ending at the bottom of Wilmslow Rd,” said hajum.

“It’s a 3.7 mile walk that captures the vibe of the city like nothing else.”

Dunham Massey and Chorlton Water Park also got a shout out, while manicleek said: “Honestly, my home.

“I can walk to the end of my street and be in the countryside and walk for hours around the countryside between Bury and Rochdale.

“Nangreaves, Edenfield, Cheesden, Birtle etc. All the way to Greenbooth reservoir and beyond if I want.”

Wpenke agreed: “Literally about to say this! Although for different reasons. Recently married (3 weeks!) And I can’t remember ever being this happy to come home to place where I live.

“It’s also in a lovely little corner of Urmston, near the meadows, the Mersey, and some now, lovely little bars (shout-out to Schooner!).”

“Through Prestwich Clough towards Phillips park where there’s the old railway arches. It’s absolutely gorgeous,” said FallenDead667.

Another user suggested Whitworth Park: “it’s so leafy and the buildings around it are so pretty. It’s right next to the curry mile too so in like a couple minutes walk you can get the best south Asian food in Manchester <3.”
