The first rule of Freshers’ Week is that there are NO rules to Freshers’ Week. And with everything from bowling, axe-throwing and club nights to wining and dining, Manchester’s Great Northern Warehouse is the perfect hangout for students this Freshers Week.

Manchester’s ultimate dining and leisure destination, Great Northern Warehouse, is sorting out your back to school or university plans with some fantastic deals on offer.

Whether you fancy a bit of bowling or a good night out, the popular leisure venue will ensure students won’t have to break the bank when it comes to having a great time.

Things to do for Freshers Week in Manchester

Great Northern Beach Club

Students can celebrate the start of term at the Great Northern Beach Club’s closing down party for free. Two mega beach-themed parties will mark the end of the summer season, giving visitors their last chance to experience those holiday vibes.

First, a closing party celebration just like The White Isle. Get ready for an all-white dress code, dreamy drinks, DJs, and party tunes all night! Taking place on Friday 1st October, Fiesta Blanca is set to bring you the best of the Ibiza beach, dancing, cocktail offers and glitter face painting.

If that weren’t enough, Fiesta De Clausura would be happening on 2nd October, Great Northern Beach Club’s very final night in the city. Expect Ibiza classics and Balearic beats from 2 pm, plus drinks promos, DJs, and dancing!

If that wasn’t enough, students can grab 20% off food and drink when visiting the club. For more information, see here.

South Manny Flavaz

South Manny Flavaz may be the youngest street food vendor in Manchester, but they have big ambitions to “feed the soul of the city”. So while they do not currently have any student discounts on offer, they boast very affordable food offerings. From £6.50 chicken and chip meal deals to £5 chicken bites, you won’t have to break the bank when it comes to finding that perfect hangover scran. For more information, visit here.

Lane 7

If you think Lane 7 is just another bowling alley – think again! At this same venue, you can play ping-pong, shoot some pool, as well as sing your heart out in stylish karaoke booths. When it comes to those all-important student deals, Lane 7 offers bowling games for just £7 per person from Sunday to Thursday every week.

Are you seeking some good grub after your game? Dine-in at Lane 7’s very own Fat Hippo restaurant. Here, you can find the juiciest of burgers at affordable prices. This includes the famous “The Last Samur-Thigh” – which includes buttermilk chicken, American cheese, lettuce, sriracha – a worldly combination! For more information, visit here.

Whistle Punks

Want to try a spot of axe-throwing with your new flatmates? Head over to Whistle Punks at Great Northern. Whistle Punks offers urban axe-throwing sessions that expert kick-ass instructors host. There will even be a pumping soundtrack to get the group’s heads into the game!

What’s more, students can enjoy 25% off sessions, Sunday to Monday throughout September. All they must do is enter code FRESH25 when booking their session on the Whistle Punks website. For more information, visit here.

Impossible

Are you looking to throw some shapes and dance the night away? Manchester’s popular nightspot, Impossible, will be continuing to run its student-led club night, UNCENSORED. Voted as Manchester’s biggest Friday night for three years running, this weekly event isn’t just your standard Friday night. With £2.50 drinks all night, and not to mention the biggest and best of Hip-Hop & RNB beats, UNCENSORED needs to be part of your Freshers Week. For more information, visit here.

Lion’s Den

Lion’s Den on Deansgate Mews is a social space like no other. With fabulous DJs, live music, pool, and not to mention a fantastic range of craft beers on offer, you cannot get any better than this place. Students will also be pleased to know that they are entitled to a 15% discount throughout September.

What’s more, Lion’s Den also runs a Happy Hour which runs from Tuesdays to Fridays, 3-7 pm every week. This includes a 2 for £5 offer on drinks (you can mix and match on selected pints, bottles/cans, shots and spirits), a £3 offer on 175ml wine, and a 2 for £5 offer on Jager bombs. So, get your pals together!

The Mews Wine Bar

The Mews Bar and Charcuterie is Deansgate’s brand-new wine and cocktail bar with a hand-picked wine list, specially crafted cocktails, and a crowd-pleasing beer selection for students who enjoy some added sophistication.

Located on Great Northern’s Mews, the new bar is the perfect spot for group catchups, with a large outdoor space. If this doesn’t sound like enough, The Mews also runs its regular After Work Socials from Mondays to Fridays, 4-7 pm every week. Offers include £9 for a bottle of wine, £16 for a bottle of wine and cheeseboard, and a 2 for 1 offer on The Mews Pilsner.
