We might not be able to enjoy Christmas as we know it this year, but Spring Gardens restaurant Six by Nico has announced a show stopping Christmas themed tasting menu.

Like a comforting Christmas movie, the ‘Miracle On’ menu is all about taking a nostalgic look back at the festive season, when Christmas jingles are in the air and Christmas market stalls are full of festive fare.

It’s the perfect opportunity to remember all the fun festivities we had growing up and why we still adore them today, says the restaurant.

The new six course menu starts with Memories of a Christmas Market, consisting of a sausage and onion compote with smoked sausage foam, crispy onions, and an intriguing sounding pickled shallot and potato airbag.

Then there’s Partridge in a Pear Tree: partridge boudain, pumpkin and pear with beech smoke and a game consommé.

Who Hates Brussel Sprouts? is the next course, mixing chanterelle mushroom with sprout tops, ewe’s cheese royale, confit egg yolk and fermented black garlic.

It wouldn’t be Christmas without Smoked Salmon Blinis – in this case, smoked salmon with Jerusalem artichoke, baby kale tops and Granny Smith apple, smoked caviar and buckwheat blini foam.

Up next is Bob Cratchit’s Three Bird Roast, a meaty feast consisting of breast of duck and turkey roulade with pistachio and prune, chicken liver parfait, duck fat turnip fondant, pomme souffle, fig and red wine gel with game sauce.

Saving the best until last, Six by Nico’s stunning Christmas dessert is a Buche De Noel, or Yuletide Log: spiced raisin cake, dulce de leche mousseline, sour cherry, white glacage and hazelnut, and white chocolate aero.

“Our Christmas is looking like a very different occasion this year, and with lockdowns and social restrictions in place, many face the prospect of missing out on festive celebrations with family, friends, colleagues and loved ones,” said chef Nico Simeone.

“Most of us are familiar with the classic Christmas lunch and all its trimmings, but this festive season our team at Six by Nico wanted to bring the magic of Christmas nostalgia to the plate with our ‘Miracle On’ menu and create the ideal Christmas dining experience for all our customers”.

‘Miracle On’ will run from Thursday 3rd December 2020 to Monday 11th January 2021 at Six by Nico, Spring Gardens. The six-course menu will be priced from £29 per person with the option to add a wine pairing for an additional £26. There is a vegetarian alternative available for every course, as well as festive inspired snack sides from £5. You can book now.
