Paul Heaton and Jacqui Abbot have just announced they will be performing a trio of special stripped-back shows – and one will be taking place at Stockport Plaza.
It follows news last November that the duo will be performing a huge headline show at Castlefield Bowl as part of the 2020 Sounds of the City series.
Tickets for the Castlefield Bowl show have now sold out, but fans who missed out can instead attend the intimate acoustic performance in Stockport on 18th June.
The other two new acoustic dates will see them perform at Blackburn’s King George’s Hall Windsor Suite and Chesterfield’s Winding Wheel on 20th and 21st June respectively.
The shows are part of a tour to support the duo’s new album Manchester Calling and will give them a chance to perform their new music in the place that’s inspired it.
Recorded at Blueprint Studios in Salford, it contains “some curmudgeonly moans, plus some hopefully uplifting love songs.”
Speaking on the record’s theme, Paul said: “It’s anti growth, anti greed, against the continuous tearing down of old buildings and sticking up soulless offices, and the disappearance of local accents on TV, along with the creeping spread of Americanese.
“Manchester is now being turned into a business centre for the rich, which I can’t stand.
“Originally it was set up to be a double LP like London Calling but alas the double album has also become a victim of time.”
Tickets go on sale Friday 21st February at 9.30am.
