The UK is known for some of the best golf courses in Europe, and if you’re a golf fan looking to book a break away this summer, you might be interested in this new research.

A new study commissioned by the International Golf Travel Market claims over 40% of golfers name spa facilities to be key influencers when choosing a golf holiday.

This inspired golfsupport.com to investigate what are the most picturesque locations for a golf and spa getaway.

So they took to Instagram to find which popular golf and spa resorts are the most shared on the platform.

Host to the 2010 Ryder Cup, Celtic Manor in Newport, Wales, came top of the list with 55,109 Instagram hashtags – but the second on the list is closer to home.

Located in beautiful Cheshire, Champney’s Mottram Hall Hotel is the UK’s ‘Original Health Spa’ and features multiple spa and gym rooms alongside a 7,006-yard golf course, which hosted the 2013 European Seniors’ PGA Championship.

Mottram Hall recently had over a 5000% search increase on Google Trends, says the research, making it a popular search term currently.

Owners Champneys, who first took over the estate in 2018, have invested a significant chunk in modernising the elegant redbrick mansion, which dates all the way back to 1721.

The £10 million state-of-the-art spa has quickly become the most stylish destination in Cheshire, offering innovative techniques and the latest technology including a salt steam room, ice fountain, cold room, organic and brechel saunas as well as a modern technogym, panoramic and spin studios, and monsoon and drench showers.

Additional features include include a 20m covered outdoor pool equipped with advanced thermal experiences, a hydro pool, and poolside private cabanas.

A Classic Spa Day starts from £79pp and includes a complimentary healthy lunch in the stunning surrounds of their Instagrammable new spa café.

Ranking third on the list is Ireland’s Galgorm Castle, while the rest of the top 10 includes K Club Hotel in Kildare, The Belfry Hotel & Resort in Warwickshire, Gleneagles Hotel and Spa in Perthshire, Trump Turnberry Hotel in Girvan, Druid’s Glen Resort in County Wicklow, and The Grove Resort Hotel in Hertfordshire.
