You’ll be served a Manchester gin PBJ cocktail if you make it down to the free King Street Festival on 1-2 June 2019

If you didn’t know already, I Love MCR® recently launched a pink strawberry jam gin in partnership with Mancunian jam makers F. Duerr & Sons.

The ‘proper pink’ handcrafted Strawberry Jam Gin (38% ABV) is created in small batches in a custom made copper still (the Rolls-Royce of stills) at the City of Manchester Distillery in the heart of Manchester.

Infused with juniper, angelica and orris botanicals and a bespoke Duerr’s jam, the result is a sweet and sticky, strawberry jam flavoured gin that is great paired with Double Dutch tonic or as part of a summer cocktail.

With King Street Festival just round the corner, we thought it would be the perfect opportunity to host the official launch of I Love MCR® Strawberry Jam Gin and give gin lovers across the city to chance to try some of the fantastic cocktails that can be created from it.

Our mixologists will be taking prime position outside El Gato Negro in a bespoke mobile cocktail bar run by Dovetail Drinks. They will be pouring up a storm using – yep, you guessed it – I Love MCR Gin.

You will be able to get a mouth watering G&T mixed with pomegranate and basil Double Dutch Tonic – or you could opt for a peanut butter and jam cocktail and/or a gin & prosecco creation which has been mixed just for the occasion.

And the new I Love MCR gin will be on sale behind the bar so you can buy it by the bottle or you can it buy online if you don’t fancy carrying it around with you.

We got the chance to meet with some of the talented mixologists down at popular speakeasy The Washhouse to sample some of the impressive cocktails they have lovingly created using our delicious strawberry jam gin.

Take a look at these beauties…

The PBJ Flip

Ingredients: I Love Manchester Gin, Sake, Wild Strawberry Liqueur, Peanut Butter Syrup, Egg Yolk.

It tastes like a deliciously smooth peanut butter milkshake, but not quite as thick. Very moreish, we demolished two in the space of minutes. This needs to be on every cocktail bar menu.

Ramos Jam Fizz

Ingredients: I Love Manchester Gin, Liquor 43, Lemon, Double Cream, Topped with Cream Soda.

This is definitely one for those with a sweet tooth. Described as – “an old school refreshers bar” and very moreish. Light to drink and one that tickles every taste bud.

Strawgroni

Ingredients: I Love Manchester Gin, Strawberry Vermouth, Aperol

Not for the faint-hearted. A sweet twist on the ever-so-popular Negroni – basically alcohol, on alcohol on top of more alcohol. As a non-Negroni lover I have to admit this was something I actually found very easy to drink and will definitely be ordering more.

Manchester Mess

Ingredients: I Love Manchester Gin, Hazelnut Liquor, Strawberry Vermouth, White Chocolate Foam.

A play on Eton Mess, obviously (and nothing to do with the state of the I Love Manchester office). A dessert cocktail served with a hand crafted macaroon to finish it off. This isn’t one you can have many of. Definitely a one off but delicious nonetheless.

Castlefield Clover Club

Ingredients: I Love Manchester Gin, Strawberries, Lemon, Balsamic Cordial, Whites.

The failsafe cocktail everyone can enjoy. Easy to drink, looks dreamy and jam-packed with strawberries – one of your five a day.*

Gin with Prosecco

Ingredients: I Love Manchester Gin, Rose Liquor, Prosecco

Our personal favourite and the one we have chosen to showcase in the Dovetail van – summery, fizzy and a taste sensation for prosecco lovers.

Oh and by the way. Please do not class a strawberry in a cocktail as one of your five a day.
