Time is running out for local artists to take part in a high profile touring exhibition and get the chance to win a £10k art prize.
The 5th biennial New Light Prize Exhibition will tour three of the north’s most prestigious venues as well as the Bankside Gallery in London. It is open to artists born, based or who have studied in the north of England and who are at any stage of their career.
It’s a great opportunity for Manchester artists to attract the interest of the art world.
“In my view the New Light Prize Exhibition is the single most important art prize that specifically recognises and celebrates the north of England, said Ian Hay, joint founder of Manchester’s Saul Hay Gallery and sponsor of the Emerging Artist award.
“Its prestige has grown year on year since its beginnings ten years ago. The opportunity to exhibit around the country is second to none. We also hope and believe that the Saul Hay Emerging Artist Award can offer a fantastic opportunity to the winning artist.”
Only original works (including printmaking) which have been produced within the last three years are eligible. The works must be static and be capable of being wall-hung without requiring any power source. Digital processes are allowed for the first time. Photography is excluded.
Entry fees are £20 for one artwork, £40 for two and then £10 per work. There is no limit to the number of artworks artists can enter. However a maximum of three works per artist will be shortlisted.
Deadline for entries is 5pm on 31st May. Artists must be over 18 years of age.
