Launching this weekend, theatre fans are in for a treat as I Love MCR will broadcast Live in The Hive, a new online magazine show dedicated to all things theatre.
Every Sunday at 8pm, the half hour entertainment show will feature interviews with some of the stars appearing on stage in the many theatres we have across Greater Manchester.
There will also be regular theatre news, exclusive performances and behind the scenes access to some of the best shows around.
The first episode will launch on I Love MCR’s Facebook page and YouTube channel on Sunday 9th January at 8pm, featuring interviews with Emmerdale’s Gaynor Faye and star of School of Rock, Jake Sharp.
This January, Gaynor is starring in Looking Good Dead at The Lowry and Jake will be rocking out in Jack Black’s iconic Dewey role at the Palace Theatre.
Taking the helm as host of Live in The Hive is Manchester presenter Michelle Eagleton, better known on social media as @showbizshel.
Michelle spent her youth as an actress appearing on stage and TV in shows such as Children’s Ward, Coronation Street and Heartbeat.
Her passion for acting and the theatre shaped her career in broadcasting, where she has been entertainment reporter for over 20 years interviewing the likes of Sir David Attenborough, Dame Joan Collins and Sting.
Along with this, she has been a theatre reviewer for numerous media outlets, sat on the panel of the former Manchester Theatre Awards, and Michelle currently chats theatre on BBC Radio Manchester every Wednesday on Becky Want’s Afternoon Show.
Live in The Hive is filmed every week in Michelle’s garden bar The Hive – a nod to Michelle’s love of the Manchester worker bee.
The live stream of Live in The Hive on Facebook and YouTube will allow viewers to interact with the show and share their own comments and recommendations for the theatre – and they can even pose questions to the guests.
“It’s great to be collaborating with I Love MCR,” says Michelle.
“I love what they do and as a passionate Mancunian I feel proud to be part of an outlet that champions our city.
“Live in The Hive is the only magazine show dedicated to our theatre scene in Manchester.
“Manchester is certainly a hot bed of theatre talent and we need to shout about it.
“There have been so many shows that have premiered here first in the past decade before going to the West End, which is a testimony to our brilliant audiences and great theatre venues.
“This is definitely the time for a show to shine a spotlight on that and I’m so excited to be sharing it with I Love MCR viewers.”
Live in The Hive will be broadcast on I Love MCR’s Facebook page and YouTube channel every Sunday at 8pm, launching on Sunday 9th January. You can follow @liveinthehive on Facebook, @liveinthehive21 on Instagram and Twitter. The show will also be available on I Love MCR’s website every Monday to watch back if you miss it.
