We’re living in uncertain times. The coronavirus pandemic is completely unexpected and affects us all one way or another.

What’s worse is that it’s not just a health pandemic: it’s a massive shock to the economy.

During these uncertain times, grassroots community groups are responding to the impact of Covid-19 through kindness and coming together to help those most affected however they can.

Forever Manchester is the only charity that raises money to fund and support community activity across Greater Manchester. Over the last 30 years they have delivered over £39 million worth of community funding benefiting 1.1 million people. That’s more or less half the population of the metropolitan county.

To support these local heartfelt responses, Forever Manchester is offering awards of up to £1,000 to groups who meet the criteria.

The Community Support Fund will open at 9am on Monday 23rd March and accepts applications from constituted community groups based in any of the ten boroughs of Greater Manchester: Bolton, Bury, Oldham, Rochdale, Stockport, Tameside, Trafford, Wigan, and the cities of Salford and Manchester.

Apply for funding to support your group

Groups can apply for up to £1,000. As the charity anticipate a lot of applications, they may not be able to fund them all, so groups should only apply for what they need.

The Greater Manchester charity aim to assess and make decisions within two weeks of receipt of application.

Community Support Fund Criteria

The Community Support Fund will accept applications from community groups based in any of the ten boroughs of Greater Manchester. Forever Manchester want to fund organisations who are supporting their communities however they can.

Who can apply?

To apply you need to be a constituted community group with your own bank account and relevant safeguarding policies in place. The Greater Manchester charity expects you to be based in the area where you are offering help.

Priority will be given to groups with an annual income of less than £50,000.

How much can you apply for?

You can apply for up to £1,000 but as we expect a lot of applications and the charity may not be able to fund them all, so, again, only apply for what you know you need.

What can you apply for?

Local groups understand how they can best help their communities at this time, so we don’t want to limit the type of request you can make, you just need to let us know what you want to do and how it supports your community.

How long will a decision take?

We aim to assess your application and give you a decision within two weeks but please note we can only do this if you provide us with the supporting documents requested.
