If you love the magical sound of a choir of schoolchildren singing together – and who doesn’t – you’re in for a treat because the largest children’s choir concert in the world is coming to Manchester’s Co-op Live in February next year.
Young Voices aims to foster confidence and community by bringing the joy of singing on a grand scale to concert venues, with up to 9,000 young people taking part.
Taking to the UK’s newest and largest live entertainment arena, the Manchester leg promises to use Co-op Live’s state-of-the-art acoustic design to perfectly highlight the performance, as well as harnessing the venue’s accessibility to deliver a quality experience for all.
Young Voices
Entering its 29th year, Young Voices has been at the forefront in delivering an extraordinary concert experience for primary school children. In 2020, over three nights, 24,000 schoolchildren from across the north west sang Proud at the AO Arena in Manchester, breaking the record of 49 concerts at the Arena previously held by Take That.
Schools will be able register their interest to be part of the Choir of 2025, which includes the Music Book, a repertoire of songs and medleys with lyrics and conductor’s notes, a comprehensive online teacher guide and the option for a teacher workshop in Manchester in October this year.
“At Young Voices we are constantly striving to deliver our schools the ultimate live music experience, so where better than the largest, newest and most state-of-the-art arena in the UK, Co-op Live,” said Young Voices CEO Ben Lewis.
With a capacity of 23,500, Co-op Live will be the UK’s largest live entertainment arena and is set to open on 23 April 2024 with a performance by Peter Kay. Other artists who are scheduled to perform in the future include Elbow, Barry Manilow, Take That and Eric Clapton.
Sustainable
Purpose built, music-first and 100% electric, the Co-op Live arena promises an elevated fan experience, as well as giving back to people and planet through sustainable initiatives such as rainwater harvesting, solar panels, reusable cups, and a zero waste direct to landfill policy.
“Co-op Live is continually focussed on community, and nothing exemplifies this more than welcoming up to 9,000 young people to one of the UK’s most unique and special live events,” said Co-op Live director Gary Roden.
“With innovative technology that elevates everyone’s in-venue experience, plus a design that promises to showcase voices at their very best, Co-op Live is perfectly suited for Young Voices.”
Young Voices will take place on 6, 7, 25 and 26 February 2025.
Registrations for schools to be a part of the Choir of 2025 will be opening soon. Schools can register their interest for Young Voices here.
