Kind-hearted local businesses and individuals came together over the Christmas period to donate new and pre-loved clothing to The Empty Shop in the Manchester Arndale in aid of local charities Mustard Tree and Goodstock by V.Inspired and smashed all previous years’ donation records.
Now you can head down to Goodstock by V-Inspired on Oxford Road where the first sale of the donated clobber is taking place.
The Empty Shop received over £100,000 worth of brand new clothing from Manchester Arndale retailers, including £56,000 from N Brown Group PLC. In addition, Quiz gave £10,000 and other local businesses donated brand new items including Global Merchandising Services, who gave £20,000 in new t-shirts.
Shudehill based creative wellness centre The Wonder Inn and Northern Quarter based Spa Satori supported the campaign by setting up donation points and by promoting the initiative on their social media channels.
“In our first year as an official charity partner of The Empty Shop we have been blown away by the generosity of the people of Manchester,” says Georgia Powell of Goodstock by V.Inspired. “We hope that following the success of The Empty Shop we can further encourage and raise awareness of volunteering opportunities in the local area.”
Manchester Arndale centre director David Allinson said: “Year on year the city has shown its community spirit by getting behind and donating to The Empty Shop. It is such an honour to have the participation and support of high profile brands and local businesses who have given a real boost to this year’s campaign. Once again, The Empty Shop has been a roaring success and we’re looking forward to the results of the sale.”
The sale is on now Monday-Saturday 10am-6pm at the Goodstock by V-Inspired shop, 6 Oxford Rd, Manchester M1 5QA.
