It’s already August. School’s out for summer and we’re in the middle of the Manchester monsoon season.

Which can only mean one thing. It’s time to plan your Christmas party.

If Santa was having a Christmas do in Manchester – and why wouldn’t he, Manchester is the Christmas capital of the north, after all – he’d have it at one of the Chop Houses.

Their Christmas party co-ordinators would definitely make it easier for him. They’d advise on the best menu options, deal with any special needs in his group and help to plan his event.

Because when you think of Christmas in Manchester, you think of proper pubs with cosy nooks and crannies out of the rain and lots of good food and drink.

And when it comes to eating and drinking, the Chop Houses are about as Manchester as it gets. Bars and restaurants come and go but Sam’s, Tom’s and Albert’s have been around for over a hundred years. In fact, Mr Thomas’s Chop House has been open for over 150 years.

The Chop Houses have witnessed most major Manchester events of the couple of centuries. They’re part of the fabric of the city. And at Christmas time, they’re extra special.

This year, as usual, the Chop Houses will be serving up a hearty three-course Christmas party menu. Why fix what’s not broken?

For starters you can choose from Parsnip & Apple Soup (v); Confit Duck & Chicken Terrine; Hand-carved Port of Lancaster Smoked Salmon; Duck Liver Parfait; Smoked Haddock Rarebit; or Crispy Goat’s Cheese Crotin.

For mains choose from Traditional Turkey Dinner; Ale-braised Feather Blade of Beef; Sweet-cured Bacon Chop; Chargrilled 8oz Sirloin of Beef; Cod Loin; or Homity Pie (v)

For pudding, choose from Christmas Pudding; Chocolate Tart; Sticky Toffee Pudding; White Chocolate & Lemon Pot; or The Great British Cheese Board.

Sound good? Book your Xmas party today with Manchester’s longest-established Christmas experts and make your own history.

What’s more, the Chop Houses are offering a complimentary drinks reception for any party booking before the end of August 2019 – plus the usual 10% off pre-ordered wine for the table.

Looking for something a little more private for your event?

Located in the civic heart of the city, Albert Square Chop House is always a cosy favourite away from the hustle and bustle of the markets – and the Christmas Markets WILL be returning to Albert Square this year, bigger and better than ever.

In addition to dining from the Christmas menu in the restaurant, Albert’s will be hosting private dining in their historic event suites: The Memorial Hall and The Thomas Worthington Suite.

The Memorial Hall is one of the few & finest examples of Venetian gothic revival architecture in the UK, making it a unique and superb backdrop for your private dinner. The private suite comes with your own dedicated service team to ensure you are fully looked after throughout, private bar, cloakrooms and washrooms.

Named after the building’s architect, the Thomas Worthington boardroom is the perfect private dining room for groups of up to 20. The suite boasts an intimate lounge area, ideal for pre-dinner drinks with excellent views overlooking Albert Square and the Town Hall.

Private parties cost from £45 per person (£10 non-refundable deposit per person to secure your booking) with buffets from £30pp and canapés from £15pp available on request.
