No, not one of those places where you get your washing done but a city centre version of the popular Chorlton restaurant and bar of the same name.

The Laundrette’s owners have applied to open in a retail unit with a 10am-12am license adjacent to the Vita Student building on First Street.

They are planning to offer customers a quirky selection of excellent home cooked food as well as an extensive cocktail menu with Squeaky Clean, Raspberri Flossi and Marshmallow Colada amongst the favourites that will be on offer to customers when doors open.

The site will have an outside seating area with heaters and blankets to keep guests warm under the Manchester skies.

The Laundrette team is also installing an express station in the Vita Student building, providing complimentary breakfasts to students from 7am Monday to Friday.

The Laundrette Coffee Co will offer a range of freshly prepared produce, including freshly ground coffee, juices, fresh fruit, yoghurts and a range of delicious pastries baked daily on-site at the restaurant.

Laundrette co-owner Patrick Hall, said: “We are really excited to move the Laundrette into Manchester centre. First Street is a brilliant addition to Manchester’s food and drink scene and we’re delighted to have a south facing corner location perfect for enjoying our cocktails and carbs in a beautiful restaurant space or on our all-year terrace.”

Vita Student MD Lee McLean said: “Vita Student is all about the experience we offer to our customers and the opening of The Laundrette is sure to enhance this.  Not only will it provide students with a cool new hangout, but they’ll also benefit from a complimentary breakfast to fuel their studies.”

The Laundrette will spin into action in time for an autumn launch subject to planning permission.
