Chart-topping indie band Blossoms have teamed up with Goose Island Beer Company to launch a new beer.

SK BREW TAKE 2 is a 5.8% West Coast IPA, and has been brewed to support Stagehand – The PSA Welfare and Benevolent Fund, the live music charity that helps support people across the sector who have been financially affected by the pandemic.

The beer is the second time Goose Island have collaborated with the Stockport band, with the first batch of SK Brew being made in 2019 to celebrate them headlining Goose Island’s Hop Party in East London, an event which saw tickets sell out in under a minute.

Taking the core elements of the first brew but adapting the flavour profile ever so slightly, the beer is a refreshing, almost tropical take on a West Coast IPA.

To celebrate the collaboration, Blossoms have also recorded two summer specials of their much-loved and critically acclaimed podcast The Blossoms Pubcast, with the first edition set to air this week.

“We’re excited to announce our collaboration with Goose Island – our new beer SK Brew Take 2!” said Blossoms.

“It’s been great working with them on this since The Hop Party we played at in 2019.

“Profits from the sale of the beer will go to Stagehand, too.”

Speaking about the collaboration, Goose Island UK’s head brewer Andrew Walton said: “We had a great time brewing with the folks from Blossoms and jumped at the chance to do so again.

“We loved the previous batch of SK Brew but wanted to dial up the favours and really help the hops shine.

“A change to the hop bill, when we added them and some subtle tweaks to the water profile really helped bring forward a softer bitterness and bold tropical flavours.

“This is a contemporary take on a West Coast IPA with that classic colour and bitterness but with a more fruit forward spin.

“I think we managed to strike a great balance and this year’s SK Brew is bold, flavourful and highly drinkable.”

SK BREW TAKE 2 is a limited edition beer, with 1,000 x 4packs of 440ml cans set to be released soon. Find out more at GooseIslandShop.com/Blossoms.
