Take a piece of the Corn Exchange home with new artwork

Award-winning Mancunian artist, Alexandra Gallagher, has unveiled her new prints of the mural inspired by the multicultural and diverse residents at leisure and hospitality destination, the Corn Exchange. 

Alexandra’s mural, which forms a walkway between the Corn Exchange’s spectacular atrium and Cathedral Gardens, features floral and fauna inspired by the global cuisine offered by the onsite bars, cafes and restaurants and the spirit of the building itself.

Built in 1837, the Corn Exchange stands in the Medieval Quarter, one of the oldest areas of Manchester city centre, and now houses a wide range of dining options, whether you fancy Italian, Indian, German, Pan Asian or Vietnamese.

With several al fresco dining areas, you can dine whilst enjoying the summer sun. The indoor area, covered by a magnificent atrium, provides shelter when the weather turns. 

The mural was unveiled back in August 2020 ahead of the site’s fifth birthday and is now available for the public to buy in print form online, with proceeds going to Forever Manchester, a charity funding and supporting communities across Greater Manchester.

“I’m super pleased to be selling my artwork on Forever Manchester,” said Alexandra.

“It was a surreal moment unveiling my artwork at Corn Exchange last year as we were living in a pandemic, so I’m happy the locals of Manchester can fully enjoy my art.”

Alexandra is a renowned artist who has won a Saatchi award as well as exhibiting at the world-famous London gallery of the same name. 

She works via a number of mediums ranging from paint and photography, through to street art and collages. Inspiration for her work includes everything from the natural world through to old masters and even dreams.
