City centre living has changed dramatically over the past couple of decades – and a large reason for that change can be attributed to House by Urban Splash

In the early 1990s, Urban Splash was formed with the goal of regenerating neglected areas within the city and turning them into some of the most desirable neighbourhoods the city has to offer.

Most people think of tiny apartments that don’t have enough room to swing a cat around when propositioned with the idea of living in the city centre – but that doesn’t have to be the case these days.

Enter Stubbs Mews. One of the latest developments undertaken by House by Urban Splash, these properties offer city centre living with a difference.

It’s a small development of 18 homes in New Islington, named one of the ’20 hippest places to live in Britain’ by The Sunday Times, all with elevated garden terraces overlooking the tranquil waters of Ashton Canal.

As well as the idyllic waterside location, Stubbs Mews is perfectly located in walking distance to the city, but without all the hustle and bustle.

There’s plenty on your doorstep as well: Cotton Field park, New Islington Marina, an Ofsted ‘outstanding’ school, a medical centre, gyms and many wonderful independent businesses throughout New Islington and Ancoats.

In fact, the area is fit to burst with local eateries, coffee shops and bars, and the number of walkers (and their dogs), cyclists, runners and families about the area really do add to the community feel.

It’s a community many small, up-and-coming businesses and pop-ups are flocking to, too.

For example, this summer neighbourhood wine bar Flawd, from the team behind Higher Ground, has launched a summertime pop-up wine bar at Pollen, the city’s favourite bakery located right by the water’s edge at New Islington.

And at the heart of the desirable neighbourhood is Stubbs Mews, a small, gated development where you will really get to know your neighbours – perhaps over a wine on your private elevated garden terraces on the waterfront?

You can choose between an L-shaped kitchen, or island kitchen, and enjoy a space filled with natural light through oversized windows.

A new home in the city centre where you can invite friends around and throw open the patio doors, and maybe show off your barbecue skills.

What more could you want this summer?
