They only launched in March this year, but following a successful delivery only service during lockdown, Gooey Bakehouse has announced it will permanently set up shop in the kiosk at the entrance of Ducie Street Warehouse.
Launching on Saturday 18th July, the new Gooey Shop will serve NYC inspired cookies and donuts, baked fresh on-site daily, as well as acting as a collection point for online pre-orders.
As well as the new kiosk in the entrance to Ducie Street Warehouse, Gooey cookies will also be served at Counter, the coffee shop and bar situated on the ground floor – and can be eaten in the new outdoor seating areas.
Formerly known as Cultureplex, Grade II listed Ducie Street Warehouse recently reopened its doors and is quickly becoming a favourite place for people to work remotely from – a halfway house between home and an office.
Gooey is the brainchild of Jake Ansbro and Patrick Brown of EATMCR and Sax Arshad of The Zanna Group, led by head baker, Lewis Loughman, formerly PBK and Takk.
“We’ve been blown away at the reaction to our Gooey delivery service over the past few months,” says Jake.
“We’ve got some special plans for the future, and our next big step is opening up a physical space in the brilliant space over at Ducie Street Warehouse.
“We’d like to thank all of our customers for the support during lockdown. We’re looking forward to meeting many of you in person and showing you some new products we’ve got in store.”
As well as a permanent home, Gooey will continue to operate its delivery and collection service. The Gooey delivery days will be Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, with collections to be made from Ducie Street Warehouse.
Local boutique flower shop Northern Flower will also be displaying one-off unique plants at the Gooey space, which customers can purchase to take home.
Gooey will launch at Ducie Street Warehouse on Saturday 18th July, open from Wednesday – Sunday from 9.30am until sell-out, as well as serving fresh cookies on the Counter all week long from 8am.
