Last night saw the launch of the Manchester in Mind Exhibition at Kosmonaut in the city’s Northern Quarter. Guest speakers gave a series of diverse and inspiring talks to kickstart the night. Speakers included Dave Sedgwick of Studio DBD, Tash Willcocks from Hyper Island and Jay Taylor of the Ruby Lounge.
The collection of print designs celebrating Manchester and the minds that make it will remain on display in Kosmonaut’s basement until 22nd October. Organised by AnotherStory, the selected works delve into the diverse population that makes Manchester unique.
The exhibition is arranged to coincide with World Mental Health Day on Saturday 10th October, all in aid of Manchester Mind, an independent and local mental health charity, committed to improving the lives of people with mental health needs. The exhibition forms part of Design MCR, a festival celebrating creativity, collaboration and inclusivity in art, design, film and music.
Joanna Huddart from the charity, Manchester Mind said,“We appreciate the kind support of this exhibition being organised by AnotherStory, which recognises the importance of Manchester’s mental health sector. Only 1.68% of the public health budget is spent on mental health campaigns, so we need to raise awareness across our city. All our services are free and open to anyone living in Manchester – no one should face a mental health problem alone. We’re proud to celebrate the diverse minds that make our city with the Manchester in Mind Exhibition & AnotherStory.”
The prints as well as limited edition postcard sets are available to purchase from the website, with all profits going to the charity.
