CTRL, Manchester’s newest indie/rock/alternative night, launched at NQ bar Dive on Thursday 21st April with a fantastic mix of live performances and DJ sets from indie legends Blossoms and Gary Powell from The Libertines.
Also performing at the former Moho Live venue were The Spitting Pips, a guitar-driven acid-soul rock ‘n roll band based in North Wales and Liverpool.
With a capacity of 700 people, the venue is the perfect place to host this kind of evening.
“I’m really glad to be here, thanks for having me,” said Gary Powell. “It’s a beautiful venue, it’s got lots of wood, it’s cool. I will get a panoramic view when I’m DJing.”
“A few of us have performed music here when it was Moho, so it’s great to be back,” said Blossoms. “It’s a lot nicer venue, more Northern Quarter style. Thanks for having us.”
If you’re thinking of going this week, you’d better get your skates on. CTRL sold out of all early bird tickets last week and, with DJ sets from Alt J and a live performance from local indie band Charlie plus support act, they’re set to sell out this Thursday, too.
