For an area that draws in big crowds on the weekend, Heaton Moor seems to only make the headlines when its chichi JW Lees pub turns away Liam Gallagher’s brother for looking like he’s about to paint a hallway.
If you ever go to mcr heaton moor swerve the Elizabethen the bar mans won't let you in if you ain't got a Gucci bath robe on and fucking wot

Over recent years, the addition of some stellar craft beer joints and the fanfare of the Savoy has brought some cred to the Moor, but apart from great curry houses and a decent deli, it’s been lacking a little culinary excitement.
Time and a Place Bar, formerly the Blue Cat Cafe, is looking to address those things by inviting a string of street food traders to run pop-ups at their Shaw Road venue.
“So many customers and friends say they can’t make many of the street food weekend days and nights, including myself” says Georgina Donnelly of Time and a Place.
“I thought why not end this and the Wednesday humpday and bring street food to Shaw Road. This means people can be warm, bring children, their dogs and enjoy great food and beer.”
For families in Heaton Moor and neighbouring Heaton Chapel, the last few years have been a saving grace, with the likes of Heaton Hops brining independently run, craft-focused products to their doorsteps. As popular as events like GRUB are, there’s certainly room for more events in the suburbs that engage an audience who aren’t always willing to travel into the city centre.
Proceedings start on the 5th April with street food hero Nasi Lemak, whose recent project Secret Diner Levy has proved popular with locals.

“I have wanted to meet Jim properly and chat for ages as he has such a great reputation for creating events and supporting small businesses,” says Georgina.
What’s Your Beef? with Oh My Glaze to follow are also lined up to feed the crowds, with a bi-weekly schedule currently running until June.
Like so many things, it’s the simple ideas that do well. Heaton Moor is blessed with an inherent community feel so word of mouth really is key in this place. Heaton Hops tapped into an area deprived of choice and managed to create an award-winning bar that has enamoured locals.
For Time and a Place, it’s still early days, but street food and an injection of variety could be big business in these quaint, leafy parts.
