Manchester food and leisure destination the Corn Exchange is celebrating seven years in the city this August – and there’s a whole host of things planned for all the family.

Not going abroad this school summer holidays? Fear not as the Corn Exchange is hosting some free travel-themed craft workshops every Wednesday throughout August, perfect to keep the young ones entertained no matter the weather.

Kicking off on 3rd August there will be five 30-minute craft sessions running from 11am to 4pm where kids will learn about the food, the national flags and national anthems of different countries each week.

All participants will receive their own special passport and get a stamp from the country of their workshop, encouraging them to come back and travel round the rest of the world with the Corn Exchange over the summer.

They will also get a free recipe to take away, so they can try to recreate the country’s delicacies themselves at home.

The five weeks will include tastes of Italy, Germany, Greece, India and Great Britain.

Restaurants will be sharing the unique tastes of their countries of origin – and most restaurants at Corn Exchange have menus designed with kids in mind.

The Italy workshop will see kids create art using dried pasta

As part of the Greek workshop, they can make their very own laurel crown to whisk them back to Ancient Greece.

If you choose the India workshops, the children can make their very own elephant mask using jewels.

The workshops will be a great way to give the children a taste of countries around the world, without having to pack for the airport.

Better still, following the workshops you can get to sample the great restaurants and bars under the historic Corn Exchange’s roof with all the family.

So, spread the word: the kids can meet up with their friends at the Corn Exchange and learn something new, and mums, dads, grandparents and carers can grab a delicious meal and a few drinks – maybe even pretend they’re abroad.

The Corn Exchange promises to make everyone’s experience a special one this summer.

Looking for even more entertainment?

Thursday evenings during August will see live music return to the Corn Exchange’s stunning Edwardian atrium.

There will be live acoustic performances of well-known classics from professional musicians from 6pm to 9pm.

It’s a great way to spend an evening listening to live music whilst drinking and dining with family and friends in this historic building in the heart of the city.

With an amazing array of restaurants and bars from all corners of the world, the Corn Exchange has something for everyone this summer.
