Brains, Bogeys and You

Step into a world of gooey earwax, sticky snot, and brain-busting science as Operation Ouch! returns to the Science and Industry Museum in 2025 with a brand-new interactive exhibition, Brains, Bogies and You.

Launching just in time for February half-term, this family-friendly extravaganza will run from 14th February 2025 to 4th January 2026, offering children and adults alike a chance to explore the fascinating science of the senses.

Brains, Bogies and You

Inspired by the hit CBBC series, Operation Ouch! and its dynamic hosts – Dr. Chris, Dr. Xand, and Dr. Ronx – the exhibition promises a grossly delightful, hands-on adventure.

Visitors will journey through a giant ear canal filled with gooey wax, squeeze past sticky snot, and dive headfirst into the mysterious inner workings of the human senses. Along the way, they’ll learn how our brains interpret the world around us, with interactive games and fascinating exhibits designed to educate, entertain, and delight.

Highlights of the exhibition include

The Brainy Headquarters: Step inside Dr. Chris’ brain through a giant ear and discover how sensory information is processed – just watch out for the earwax!
Hands-On Fun: Poke around inside a giant eyeball, test your sense of balance, and explore secret senses like knowing when it’s time to sleep or even when to take a toilet break.

Inclusive Science: Learn how sensory experiences vary for children with disabilities, fostering greater understanding and inclusivity.

The adventure doesn’t stop there – the exhibition features special appearances from Dr. Chris, Dr. Xand, and Dr. Ronx in engaging video segments, sharing their expert insights with trademark humour and enthusiasm.

Steven Leech Science and Industry Museum

Steven Leech, Curator of Exhibitions at the Science and Industry Museum, described the experience as “an epic experiment bursting with brilliant brain science,” promising it will inspire young minds to explore the wonders of science with confidence.

Building on the success of Operation Ouch! Food, Poo and You, which delighted audiences in 2024, this latest instalment takes the fun to the next level. As Dr. Chris puts it, “From earwax and bogies to brains and snot, prepare to be enjoyably disgusted and fascinated!”
