Lunya offers fantastic meat-free dining all year round, making it the perfect place to celebrate National Vegetarian Week.
With over 40 authentic Catalan and Spanish vegetarian dishes to choose from, as well as a free glass of Spanish draught beer (‘caña’) for any meat-free diners eating in the restaurant between 14th and 20th May, veggies are more than spoilt for choice here.
The Spanish and Catalan restaurant, deli and bar is a veritable vegetarian haven with a huge selection of delicious, hearty and exciting meat-free options. Plus, all those choosing to dine veggie throughout the week will receive a free draught beer.
A veggie feast at Lunya can commence with a selection of Spanish nibbles. Choose from a delicious array of olives, encurtidos (pickles) and snacks, plus bread made in-house and served with exquisite extra virgin olive oils and beautiful vinegars from Spain. Or opt for their famous pan con tomate (Catalan tomato bread) with fresh tomatoes, garlic and olive oil.
Vegetarians are also spoilt for choice with Lunya’s tapas menu. From classic options such as patatas bravas and Spanish tortilla to lesser known dishes such as cauliflower “steak” topped with tahini yoghurt, pomegranate molasses and coriander, or the woodland mushrooms and asparagus pan-fried in Arbequina olive oil, there are plenty of classic veggie goodies on offer. Some dishes are unique to Lunya, such as garbanzos, a Middle Eastern spice-infused chickpea stew with butternut squash, almonds and apricots.
Are you a vegan, though? Well, many of these dishes are also suitable for vegans or can be altered in the kitchen upon request. Vegan diners can order directly from the vegan menu, ensuring that everyone can enjoy an exciting Spanish experience at Lunya.
Vegans ticked off the list, now we must talk about the cheese. Owners and founders Peter and Elaine regularly visit Spain seeking out the best suppliers. This passion for produce has allowed them to curate the largest collection of Spanish cheese in the world outside of Spain, and veggies will be pleased to hear that much of the selection is vegetarian-friendly.
You can choose a selection from the large collection to be served as a platter with Catalan fruit accompaniments. There are also large sharing cheeses on offer: whole soft cheeses which make perfect centrepieces for between 2-6 people sharing and are all served with breadsticks for dipping.
Last but not least, let’s talk dessert. Every item on Lunya’s dreamy dessert menu is vegetarian too, meaning there are no limitations whether you fancy churros or a
crema Catalana. Vegetarians can round off their meal the right way with something
sweet, Spanish and utterly delicious.
The Lunya restaurant experience is all about spectacular ingredients, handled with love and care, prepared from scratch, and eaten in relaxed surroundings. Everyone is welcome and, frankly, everything tastes wonderful.
