After closing its doors in 2023 following more than two decades of shaping Northern Quarter fashion, founders Steve Sanderson and Nigel Lawson assured fans that the brand hadn’t “bit the dust” but was merely “hibernating.”
Now, they’ve delivered on that promise with the launch of a new website, silver-raven.co.uk, and a fresh range of Oi Polloi-branded outdoor and sportswear-inspired clothing. The duo has even hinted at the possibility of reopening a physical store in the future.
Oi Polloi
Under the heading “We’re back,” Steve and Nigel shared their excitement in a statement on the website: “Well it’s been nearly two years since the sad demise of the great oipolloi.com and the closure of the Manchester store.
“Well we’ve been beavering away and now we bring you a new range that encompasses some of the vibes and some of the swagger of the traditional Oi Polloi.
“We hope you like it, we hope to build the brand up, which in turn will bring back a store and then some of our old brands will be invited back and of course you guys will be invited back too. You guys are the most important part of the business.
“We think Manchester and the world needs Oi Polloi. We loved it and knew you guys loved it too.
“So go ahead buy a t-shirt for your dad’s surfing holiday to Bournemouth or buy your son a tracksuit for breakdancing at Stockport Mersey way shopping centre. Or buy yourself a B.A.S Parka just to be the coolest mther fuker down the espresso bar or panini store. With love from Steve and Nige.”
Debenhams is back too
The revival of Oi Polloi comes alongside other notable returns in Manchester’s retail scene, including the reopening of Debenhams in the city centre after its closure in 2021 earlier this week.
For fans of Oi Polloi, this comeback is a celebration of the brand’s enduring influence and its commitment to bringing style and swagger back to Manchester.
