The fifth site in Manchester city centre, delivered in a similar fashion to their Cicchetti restaurant, Fumo is a brand new restaurant and cocktail bar from the established Italian group San Carlo.
“Manchester, what we call our home,
has been very good to us.”
Open seven days a week from breakfast through to dinner and with late opening hours on Friday and Saturday, diners will be able to call in for a bite to eat and a cocktail or glass champagne at the feature bar or take a table and enjoy a relaxed yet stylish dining experience inside or out, on the alfresco terrace, should weather permit.
As with all San Carlo restaurants, attention to detail at San Carlo Fumo will be of utmost importance, all dishes will be made on the premises using only the finest seasonal ingredients, with much flown direct from produce markets in Milan and Sicily.
A template that works so well with high foot-flow, the offering transcends from Cicchetti on King Street West, however, this site has a confident nod to the wet trade. Opening post-midnight on Friday and Saturday nights, the bar inside Fumo will be a night life destination for those seeking a few swanky cocktails near St Peter’s Square in the late lounge with a DJ at weekends.
Forever delivering an authentic Italian with timeless style, the cocktail menu is carefully designed by acclaimed cocktail mixologist Jamie Jones and reflect the palatable food offering that are easy on the stomach.
Boss Marcello Distefano says: “Our new place sits right in the centre of thriving Manchester, in a location that is very accessible for people coming in for after-work drinks and even for out-of-towners via the main tram station (St Peter’s Square).
“We hope people will enjoy the grandeur of this striking new building and the lavish yet relaxed interior which I think has become synonymous with San Carlo.”
The ground floor includes a bar that runs the length of the area, with the main dining restaurant here too – with the group’s signature marble tables and sophisticated coffee-coloured leather seating. Upstairs there is a dining space for overflow and private parties.
When roadworks are completed outside there will also be a large al fresco dining terrace with seating.
Marcello continues: “Manchester, what we call our home, has been very good to us. We hope people enjoy it.”
The restaurant hopes to open on Thursday this week.
