Award-winning Zouk Tea Bar & Grill celebrated its 7th birthday with a spectacular party in its Manchester restaurant featuring cuisine from seven regions of India and Pakistan.
Co-founders Tayub and Mudassar Amjad served up Amritsari fish pakora, Gola Kebab from North West Frontier Province, Lamb Nihari from Lahore, Goan Fish Curry, Whole Sajji Roast Lamb from Baluchaistan, Dall Makhani from Delhi, and Kulcha Naan from Karachi.
Party goers picked up a playing card from a deck of cards on arrival which entitled them to complimentary drinks, with the lucky number 7 card equalling a bottle of wine.
Entertainment came courtesy of DJ Fritz, Bollywood dancers Desi Nach, a dancer with a snake plus a fabulous fire eater who was on hand to greet guests at the entrance with a spectacular performance.
“We’ve had an incredible seven years in business and we were so happy to welcome loyal customers and Manchester businesses to celebrate with us,” said Tayub. “Zouk has always been about innovative food in a cool, relaxed environment so it was perfect to sit on the sunlit terrace enjoying food and special Zouk cocktails amongst friends.
“We’re now looking forward to a busy summer touring the UK and taking Zouk food to Greater Manchester and beyond. We’ll be at Glastonbury, Parklife, Secret Garden Party, Boom Town and the Southbank Alchemy Festival to name a few. I can’t wait to see what the next seven years will bring for Zouk.”
“We had an amazing time with the Zouk community at our party and were overwhelmed with the fantastic turnout,” said Mudassar. “We’d like to give our heartfelt thanks to all who joined us for the celebrations and thank you to all our customers for their amazing support over these 7 years.”
Tayub and Mudassar conceived the idea of Zouk in 2006 following a family holiday. Inspired by the variety of food and the stylish settings they had seen on their travels across Morocco and the Indian sub-continent, they came up with the idea of opening a new generation restaurant.
Zouk opened in Bradford in 2006 followed by a 300 seat restaurant in Manchester in February 2009.
