The ‘secret disco bathroom’ at speakeasy bar The Washhouse is a merriment of unisex toilets fully equipped with a DJ booth, and resident DJs playing disco anthems and funky house.

It’s been a big hit with party-goers since it was set up, decked out with everything you’d expect on the most popular of dance floors.

And their now iconic disco bathroom is heading to Manchester Adored Festival on 25th March.

DJ Emma Charles is usually spinning a great selection of Disco, Nu Disco, Funky House and Vocal Bangers in The Washhouse bathroom, and we caught up with her to ask why it has become such a big hit.

She said: “Well, things definitely hit differently dancing in the loos.”It’s smaller, more personal, and people go absolutely wild for it.

“Honestly, it’s just so much fun!

“Standing with your mates next to the sink, singing along to massive tunes. One of the best things about DJing in the bathroom is that there are no rules.”

The Washhouse Disco Bathroom was built specifically, inspired by the amazing disco bathroom set up at Glitterbox events at the Hï club in Ibiza.

The Bathroom is decked out with neon signs, a huge disco ball, disco lights, and models printed on the toilet doors, with a DJ booth too. Basically, everything that shouldn’t go in a bathroom.

Emma added that some people were a bit nervous or confused to party in the loos.
But with big names like Glitterbox and La Discotheque’s ‘La Piscotheque’ conquering the toilet party, she knew The Washhouse bathroom would be a big hit.

Emma continues: “We usually get three types of reactions.

“Some walk in shocked, but then start throwing some shapes and get into the swing of things.

“Others, well, you just get people who come in to use the toilet.

“And the rest rock up knowing exactly what’s happening and stay for 3 hours in the loos.

“I just own it and give it some. I mean I do DJ outside of loos too, but the disco bathroom is by far what I get asked about the most.

“So much effort goes into our bathrooms to make sure It’s the best pee you ever have!”

The Washhouse disco bathroom is in session every Friday & Saturday night from 7pm and Catch Emma DJ’ing at some of the best events in Manchester over the next few months.

You can catch her at Manchester Adored Festival at Bowlers Exhibition Centre on Saturday March 25th.
