Manchester is one of the best cities in the UK for vegan food, with a whole range of restaurants boasting a totally plant-based menu and vegan options now available at most places.

And now, dear animal-lovers, there’s another great hangout to tick off the list.

Biff’s Jack Shack are the creators of some ridiculously filthy and drool-worthy vegan food, enabling you to get your junk food fix without the compromise – or the animal cruelty.

This summer, Biff have been touring the UK, sharing their secrets of vegan junk food and their love of innovative plant-based treats.

The speciality burgers are unique to Biff, combining a secret spice mix with delightfully braised jackfruit to bring you a treat that could easily be mistaken as real meat.

Bowling alley and restaurant All Star Lanes have partnered up with Biff’s Jack Shack to introduce a brand new vegan burger to their menu.

The El Jackitan Burger is 100% plant-based, with a fried jackfruit patty triple-dipped in golden panko breadcrumbs, delivering a beautifully crispy texture. And it’s just as delicious as it sounds.

The burger towers in front of you, with a myriad of textures and flavours, sitting on a bed of crunchy tortilla chips. The patty is sandwiched between pillow-soft burger buns, cushioning the blow of the sharp barbecue flavours emerging from the sauce. Finishing touches include a handful of spicy green jalapenos, crisp cherry red tomato, and a big dollop of guacamole, all topped off with melted ‘nacho cheeze’.

Vegan cheese is hard to nail and can often feel quite slimy. But they’ve really nailed it with the El Jackitan Burger. The coconut oil alternative melts perfectly over the patty, really bringing the burger together. You’ll be dreaming about it for weeks to come – or at least until you have another.

The Biff burger is a permanent fix on All Star Lanes’ menu, so get down to the Great Northern and give it a try.
