Dirty Donuts

The woman who made hot cookie dough the MUST have sweet treat on the Christmas Markets has got a new gooey dessert treat to tantalise Manchester tastebuds.

Charlotte Whittle has launched Dirty Donuts at the Piccadilly Gardens food markets – with a range of towering ice cream-laden cakey treats in store.

It includes towering three donuts on top of each other, applying oodles of hot chocolate or toffee sauce on top, inserting a cone inside with ice cream and sprinkles and biscuits.

There’s also an incredible UNICORN creation, complete with a horn of plenty, pink glitter glaze, rainbow drops and unicorn sprinkles.

Charlotte, 26, from Oldham, has had huge success with her Elsie May’s hot cookie dough, sold at two locations at the Manchester Christmas Markets at the end of last year.

She was inspired to make donuts for her next sweet treat phenomenon after a trip to New York earlier this year.

Charlotte said: “I went to New York in February, and donuts are just massive out there. The bigger the better in terms of what they do – but England doesn’t really do it, so I thought why not try?

“We put ice cream in most of them, so it seemed like a nice idea to do this for the summer months and keep the hot cookie dough for the winter.

“Everyone has been wowed so far.”

Dirty Donuts

The range includes the donut stacks for £6.50 for those with a larger appetite (or American tourists).  There’s also a range of smaller donut sandwiches – which is just one ring doughnut filled with ice cream and a choice of different toppings for £3.

Dirty Donuts are available from 11am to 5.30pm on Thursdays Fridays and Saturdays at the Piccadilly Gardens markets, and from 1st April the markets will be open the same hours from Wednesday through to Sunday.
