Three to see this weekend: getting wined and dined and art redefined

There’s plenty going on this weekend to peel you off the sofa and out of that Ben and Jerry’s rut. Whether you want to get ginny at a gin night, indulge your inner wino at Wine Hour or discuss world issues and art at MIF, there’s plenty of good stuff going on around our city.

In no particular order, here’s this weeks three to see.

UK Wine Hour Live

Contrary to popular belief, wine tastings aren’t just for wine buffs, though you might become one after sampling a few at this place. Simon Woods, wine author, blogger, columnist and educator, will be signing copies of his new book I Don’t Know Much About Wine But I Know What I Like.  Did you know that Malbec wines almost always have a bright magenta rim? This probably won’t make you the coolest person in the room, but when people want wine recommendations, they’ll come to you first.

Don Giovanni Presents: An Evening with Manchester Three Rivers Gin

Like gin? Love Italian food? You’re on to a winner. Foodie favourite Don Giovanni have teamed up with Manchester’s Three Rivers to bring you an exclusive evening of gin tasting and the freshest Italian fare. That’s Italian culture, Mancunian style. You’ll get to learn about the history of Three Rivers, how they came to be and what makes their product so special whilst nibbling at Italian sharing boards, aperitivo style, in Don Giovanni’s beautifully refurbished private room. There’ll be plenty of Three Rivers G&T’s going round and a gin-laced sweet treat to round off the evening. To add the cherry to the trifle, Don Giovanni will be raffling off a bottle of the good stuff to all guests and everyone will leave with a secret recipe to recreate the signature dessert at home.
