Christmas is a magical time in Manchester and with snow falling, those pumpkin lattes in full flow, and the shops packing in the presents, we’re all getting into the Crimbo spirit.

The city is bustling with festive activity and there’s nowhere quite like Manchester to do things right.

For this weekend, we’ve picked a light show, a Crimbo party night and wine and cheese tasting to top things off. Here they are, in no particular order.

Lightwaves

This winter Salford Quays is hosting the UK’s biggest digital light festival. Lightwaves 2017 is taking over public spaces for an unforgettable 10 days, from Friday 8 December until Sunday 17 December. Featuring new and exclusively commissioned digital art displays alongside emerging talent, and light workshops from local, national, and international artists, Lightwaves 2017 is bringing light to those dark winter nights with ten free light experiences across Salford Quays from the Plaza between The Lowry and the Lowry Outlet to MediaCityUK.
