Yes, you read that right. Manchester’s hottest new music venue is teaming up with innovative health and fitness brand TRIBE.MCR to put a yogic spin on partying.
Yoga and raving, we hear you ask? At first glance, we’ll admit they seem worlds apart. But in fact, yoga raves have become a bit of a global trend in recent years.
How does it work? It’s run like a fitness class: a DJ spins house, techno and trance from the decks as you get stuck into a choreographed flow designed to make you feel good – all the way down to your soul.
Incorporating ravey vibes with a mixture of HIIT moves, yoga flows and free movement play to help you generate those feel-good vibes, it’s a group workout with a difference.
Supplying tunes on the decks throughout will be selector Alice Woods, the DJ and founder behind Manchester’s all-female Meat Free collective. Recently nominated by DJ Mag for ‘Best Club Event’, we can already tell you that the beats are going to be fire.
But even better – it’s all for a good cause.
All proceeds from ticket sales will go towards charity The Erenjang Project, who help children in the Gambia get access to education and medical care.
Bringing the event to YES is Dr Jessicarr Moorhouse, personal trainer and founder of innovative health and wellness brand TRIBE.MCR, and Manchester yoga teacher and photographer Madeleine Penfold.
Recently listed as a finalist for North England’s Women in Business award, Jessicarr has been making waves in the Manchester fitness community by taking a holistic approach to her classes.
Her brand TRIBE.MCR is all about combining the obvious physical benefits of exercise with the less-considered mental ones.
What started out with weekly group training sessions at Sadler’s Yard opposite the Pilcrow Pub (which she still runs every Wednesday evening) has since expanded, with Jessicarr adding a second weekly session in Didsbury’s Marie Louise gardens due to popular demand.
Complete with alternative dance music and coloured lighting, the sessions offer a stage-lit workout that gives the sessions a fun, party atmosphere.
Other recent developments have seen her team up with Parklife and WHP founder Sacha Lord to launch free fitness sessions to hospitality workers, as well as hosting an array of out-of-the-box events around the city with top fitness gurus like Darryl Edwards, the author of best-selling fitness book Primal Play.
Next weekend’s event sees TRIBE.MCR continue in this vein, keeping the focus on fun and feel-good fitness.
Tickets cost £15 + booking fee and are available now on Eventbrite. The event takes place in the pink room at YES on June 2nd between 12 and 2pm.
