The UK’s biggest lager festival is coming to Manchester next month featuring local food traders, lager matched menus and a stellar line-up of DJs.

20 of the world’s finest craft lager breweries will descend on Manchester bringing with them over 50 styles of lager for We Are Lager, a four-day celebration at Upper Campfield Market.

“It’s set to be a great event with lager from all over the world,” says Jamie Scahill, co-founder of We Are Lager and Manchester Union Brewery, the city’s first and only dedicated craft lager brewery which launched in January.

“It is really important to us that the event is fun and inclusive, so food, music and a great variety of other drinks are as important to us as the lager.

“Lager has had a bad reputation over the past 30 years and We Are Lager is aiming to change this by showcasing the best lager the world has to offer. Our ethos is Drink Better Lager.’’

Now confirmed to showcase their lager at the festival are UK brewers Pillars Brewery, Mondo Brewing Company and Moor Beer and, from the Czech Republic, Budvar, most famous for their long standing lager favourite, Budweiser.

Also joining the line-up is Pyynikin Craft Brewery, an up-and-coming craft producer from Finland, joined by Canadian grassroots craft brewery Collective Arts Brewing and Lucky Saint, producers of “an alcohol-free beer worth drinking”.

They will joining lagers from Lost & Grounded, Hacker Pschorr, Kona Brewing Co, Lervig, Paulaner, Donzoko, Giepel Brewing, Braybrooke Beer Co, 71 Brewing and Manchester’s own Cloudwater for a truly international lager showcase.

As well as large amounts of lager for you to try, there will be a dedicated gin bar, plus wine, prosecco and soft drinks to ensure there is something for the non-lager drinkers too.

A stellar line-up of local food traders will be there to help you curb those hunger pangs when you’re a few drinks in.

There will be burgers, BBQ and wings provided by Urmston favourites Get Chucked, a little taste of Mexico brought by taco kings El Taquero, dim sum by street food experts Dim Sum Su and mac ‘n cheese experts Mac Shac. Delicious desserts and coffee will be provided by Altrincham newcomers Off The Wheaten Track and Coffee 2 Pick Up.

All of the food traders will be providing special lager matching menus so you can really get the ultimate lager experience.

An extensive line-up of DJ’s curated by Manchester’s longest running club night Funkademia will include Chimpo from Levelz, Nanny Banton and Gareth Brooks (Hula), Luke Unabomber, Everything Everything, Luke Unabomber (Electric Chair), Funkademia V Girls on Film, Take Me To Church and Hattie Pearson.

There will also be a dedicated family day on the Sunday, when lager fans are invited to bring their families for a day of great drinks, good food, chilled vibes, and child-friendly activities.
