Hydes Brewery has proudly reopened The Nursery Inn, one of Stockport’s beloved pubs, following a significant £250,000 refurbishment.

This revitalisation breathes new life into the Grade II listed building, which was originally constructed in 1939, with updates that blend modern comfort with historic charm.

The refurbishment, led by Salford-based Hydes Brewery, preserves the pub’s unique character while introducing new furniture and fixtures.

The careful redecoration highlights the Nursery Inn’s original features, enhancing the charm of its historic lounge, smoke room, and vault.

Patrons can now enjoy a refreshed interior that remains true to the pub’s storied past while offering contemporary convenience and an inviting, spacious layout.

In addition to the interior, the exterior of the pub has also been refreshed, making it an ideal spot for spring and summer gatherings.

Pub and Bowling Green

The Nursery Inn’s outdoor experience is further enriched by its well-maintained bowling green, a fixture cherished by several local bowling teams.

Historically, the pub also holds a unique sporting legacy as the first headquarters of Stockport County AFC, whose former grounds occupied the site of the current bowling green in the late 1800s.

This substantial refurbishment is part of Hydes Brewery’s broader multi-million-pound investment strategy, aimed at enhancing its pub estate over the next few years.

Since 2021, Hydes has invested over £10 million in pub refurbishments, with plans to continue these updates through 2025.

The Nursery Inn’s new manager, Jordan Nolan, is excited to welcome patrons to experience the transformed space.

Adam Mayers, Managing Director of Hydes Brewery

Adam Mayers, Managing Director of Hydes Brewery, commented: “The Nursery Inn holds a special place in our community and local history.

“This refurbishment honours the pub’s unique character, and our dedicated team has taken a thoughtful approach to retain the building’s heritage.

“We’re thrilled to see it reopen and to continue offering an exceptional experience to both new and returning customers. Hydes remains committed to all of our pubs, and this investment underscores our dedication to preserving these cherished local landmarks.”

Hydes Brewery, based in Media City, Salford, has been a family-owned business since 1863, supplying quality beers to a wide range of clients and operating over 40 pubs across the North West of England and North Wales.
