Part of Living Venture’s Blackhouse group, this no nonsense restaurant does solid, honest and proper food.

“…once just a setting favoured by men in pin-striped suits, is now a comfortable and contemporary steak house, fit for all.”

Sister to The Grill On The Alley, this establishment specialises in wholesome ingredients, mixing distinctive textures and flavours that just work together – offering a mix of innovative dishes and comfortable favourites.

Exactly like GTOA, they house premium quality steak that’s aged for 28 days to ensure tenderness and flavour and cooked however you like it. Fresh fish and shellfish that they ‘smoke, sear, grill and broil’, needless to say, they’re delightfully tasty.

Grill On New York Street Breaded Chicken

Whilst sinking into the soft leather booths, we found their specials board pretty… special. Includes dishes such as the pictured; breaded chicken breast with spinach and blue cheese sauce. Proper melt-in-your-mouth tasty food.

If you LOVE your steak and you’ve just got paid, try the Wagyu Fillet (£55) it’s the daddy of all steaks. Claimed to be the most tender, succulent and tastiest meat in the world. From the Wagyu breed, it is reared on a beer diet and massaged from birth… lucky cow!

When opting for a Blackhouse steak (compulsory at some point in your life) and you like red wine (damn shame if you don’t), try a glass (or bottle) of the Tarquino Shiraz/Malbec – it’s a good value, juicy and ripe Argentinian wine (a reasonable £22.50 for a bottle).

Indulge with home comfort puddings, crumbles, cakes and treats or a delightful drop. Finish off with a superbly prepared cocktail, from old school classics such as an Espresso Martini to new infusions and flavours, mixed, merged, shaken and stirred. They perform cocktail masterclasses if you book.

The Grill On New York St, that was once just a setting favoured by men in pin-striped suits, is now a comfortable and contemporary steak house, fit for all. Whilst remaining a mature atmosphere, it’s stamping its own footprint onto Manchester’s culinary scene, no longer in Grill On The Alley’s shadow.

Grill On New York Street Outside

Their new outside canopied area, that adds a welcoming enterance, has signature white whicker chairs and comfy cushions – perfect for no nonsense food alfresco. It’s equipped with heat lamps for that sudden moment of chill that never surprises us in Manchester.
