Manchester’s Great Northern has revealed who is taking over their community kitchen this weekend – and it’s independent Pan Asian restaurant, Tampopo.

They’ve travelled all over East Asia to bring back their favourite dishes and have put together a bespoke menu which is like a whistle stop tour of East Asia, from Vietnam to Indonesia, Japan to Thailand, Malaysia to Singapore.

From sticky chicken wings with even stickier rice to corn fritters, satay chicken, Thai curry noodles, Singaporean curry and katsu curry, your taste buds will be whisked away to the beautiful Thai beaches, the bright lights of Singapore or the beautiful, misty foothills of the Japanese mountains.

And, what’s more, all menu items are up to 40% cheaper this weekend at the Great Northern than if you eat at the restaurant, with all dishes around £4 – £7 and perfect for sharing.

So if you’re not familiar with Tampopo, it’s a perfect opportunity to give it a try – or if you’re already a die-hard fan, you’ve got yourself a bargain.

Drinks include a cold pint of Estrella Damm or a G&T with a twist from Didsbury Gin with flavours including raspberry and elderflower, strawberry and lemon or blood orange. And Tampopo will also be serving their very own homemade still lemonade as well as wine.

The pop-up restaurant on the square provides a Covid-secure space for local businesses that are restricted with limited outdoor dining space. The weekly takeovers allow these restaurants to serve up their delicious cuisine right in the heart of Manchester.

All diners will experience table service to reduce close contact and ensure social distancing to kept at all times.

The Tampopo pan Asian dining experience will be open from 12 noon-9pm Friday to Sunday. No need to book, simply pop down and enjoy drinks and food outdoors either solo or with the rest of your household.
