There’s a strawberry jam gin afternoon tea cruise coming to Castlefield

What could make a sunny afternoon tea on a leisurely river cruise even better? The addition of gin, that’s what. Strawberry Jam Gin, to be precise.

This summer, The Liquorists, famous for their Gin Cruises; City Centre Cruises, famous for their Sunday Lunch Cruises and I Love MCR®, famous for their summery new ‘proper pink’ handcrafted Strawberry Jam Gin are teaming up to offer a new spin on afternoon tea.

After all, there’s no better way to see our glorious city than with a drink made right here in Manchester in your hand.

Whether it’s the quintessential summer cruise on the Gincident, the cooler-than-the-other-side-of-the-pillow Mississippi Blues Cruise, or the brand new Rum Runners Revenge, booze aficionados The Liquorists have been ruling the waterways of Manchester in association with City Centre Cruises since 2010.

Based in Castlefield, City Centre Cruises have been operating cruises along Manchester’s canals for 30 years. Fully equipped with a professional kitchen and full-time chefs, they know what they’re doing when it comes to on-board catering.

And on 12th July, you can get an afternoon tea with a difference when they team up with The Liquorists and I Love MCR® for a fun-filled trip.

The three-hour cruise departs from Castlefield and includes seven cracking cocktails all made with I Love MCR® ‘proper pink’ handcrafted Strawberry Jam Gin.

Expect a twist on a Mojito, Strawbery Jam & Peach Iced Tea, Strawberry Jam Gin with Hibiscus Tonic and some other unique twists by The Liquorists using I Love MCR® Gin.

You’ll also get a full afternoon tea to match, complete with sandwiches, cute cakes and mini macarons incorporating the fruity pink theme.

I Love MCR®’s ‘proper pink’ hand crafted Strawberry Jam Gin (38% ABV) is created in small batches in a custom made copper still (the Rolls-Royce of stills) at the City of Manchester Distillery in the heart of Manchester.

It is infused with juniper, angelica and orris botanicals and a bespoke Duerr’s jam, made in Manchester, which has been created to perfectly complement the other ingredients in the still. It packs in 66% fruit content for a summery, strawberry burst of fruity flavour.

The Strawberry Jam Gin Afternoon Tea Cruise takes place on 12th July from 2pm-5pm, departing from Barca Bar in Castlefield.

The Liquorist cruises cost from £60, but guests booking on to this exclusive new three-hour afternoon tea cruise will be able to snap up tickets for a special introductory price of just £30, including all drinks and full afternoon tea.
