Spring Gardens restaurant Six By Nico has so far impressed Manchester diners by serving a completely new six course tasting menu every six weeks.

Following the success of its chippy teaMexican and Big Apple menus, chef Nico Simeone now plans to take diners down the rabbit hole with a Mad Hatter’s Tea Party menu, launching next month.

Priced at £29 for six courses and inspired by the whimsical world of Alice in Wonderland, with a wine and specialist drinks pairing for an additional £26, the themed menu will recall childhood tales with a quirky, colourful feast.

The Mad Hatter is one of the most famous movie characters ever to be imagined, known for his quirkiness and peculiarity in nature, and this new menu showcases just that.

The menu starts with Eat Me, Drink Me – a mushroom consomme with empire biscuit, Parmesan truffle, white kappa (tapioca) and quince, followed by Chester Cat Copy Cat which consists of chicken liver parfait with orange jelly and toasted sourdough.

Steak Tartare is next, with goats cheese pannacotta, green olive tapenade, tomato tartare and yoghurt yolk, followed by Checkmate – sole with black garlic emulsion, cauliflower and fragrant lemon verbena foam.

Off With His Head is a pork fillet with head croquette, black pudding, roasted carrot and spiced prune, and pudding is Queen of Hearts – a white chocolate mousse with red velvet cake, raspberries and pecan brittle.

“If you’re after a magical food adventure then our latest theme at Six by Nico is for you,” says chef Nico.

“Guests throughout November and the festive period will be transported down the rabbit hole to enjoy our whimsical dining experience as we present the magical world of Alice in Wonderland with our Mad Hatter’s Tea Party.”

The Mad Hatter’s Tea Party menu at Six by Nico opens on Tuesday 12th November, and will run until Sunday 22nd December.
