A new three-day food and drink festival is coming to Stockport town centre in September with over 40 stalls and more than 30 artisan and local producers.

And set to make a star appearance is celebrity chef Simon Rimmer.

Known across the UK for his co-hosting duties on Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch, Simon is popular with Manchester foodies both for his forward-thinking vegetarian restaurant Greens and his work as executive chef at Bavarian beer palace Alberts Schloss.

A self-proclaimed champion of ‘magpie cuisine’, Simon’s dishes at Greens unashamedly borrow flavours and inspiration from other cultures to develop dishes that are “defined not by a negative absence of meat, but by the positive inclusion of fantastic ingredients and flavours.”

Simon’s cookery theatre will feature prominently on Saturday, with two demonstrations planned over the course of the afternoon.

Asked what we can look forward to, he tells us: “I’ll be doing two demonstrations which will feature delicious, simple dishes from my Sunday Brunch cookbook and from Greens.”

Just what the doctor ordered.

He will be joined by a host of restaurant owners, celebrity and local chefs, all of whom will be demonstrating their skills and sharing their top tips with foodie fans over the course of the weekend.

Fancy taking the kids? There’ll be plenty for families, too.

A Million Dreams, The Greatest Showman tribute band, will be performing favourites from the show alongside a full line-up of entertainment provided by local dance schools and community groups. And over on Merseyway, kids can have fun with a strawberry trail and strawberry-themed craft workshops.

A Taste of Provencal

The festival has been organised by Totally Stockport, Market Place Europe, Stockport Council, and Merseyway Shopping Centre.

“This is a fantastic opportunity to showcase all the great food and drink businesses in Stockport,” said Totally Stockport’s Paul Taylor. “Working with our partners, we have brought together a packed 3-day programme, free family entertainment and something for everyone.”

Stockport town centre, 6th-8th September 2019.
