A new selection of affordable meal kits is coming to dining tables across Salford, thanks to a new partnership between The Good Food Bag and local charity Emmaus Salford.
The Good Food Bag is a meal kit service which initially started in Sale West, providing low cost, healthy meal kits to organisations as well as selling directly to customers in areas of food insecurity.
The latest collection point to offer The Good Food Bag meal kits is Lucie’s Pantry social supermarket, based at Emmaus Salford.
The idea is simple. For just £7 people get a bag with ingredients and a simple step-by-step recipe card to cook a nutritious meal to feed a family of four.
And it doesn’t matter if you’re not a family of four – the meals are just as tasty the next day, so enjoying a left-over lunch or super speedy supper another day in the week helps take care of any leftovers.
The Good Food Bag meal kits are available to any household and aim to provide a healthy and tasty answer to the daily question: what’s for tea?
“We are really excited to be working with Emmaus Salford as their reputation for supporting people is brilliant,” says operations manager at The Good Food Bag, Jenni Pocsai.
“We are so proud to be another way that Emmaus is here to help support the people of Salford.”
Emmaus is a charity that supports formerly homeless people by providing a stable home, meaningful work and support for as long as they need it.
In addition to a residential community and charity shops, Emmaus Salford also runs Lucie’s Pantry social supermarket for people to access food and household essentials.
“We’re really pleased to be partnering with The Good Food Bag and extending the range of services we offer from Lucie’s Pantry,” says community director Rachel Richardson.
“Meal kits have become really popular during the past year as people look to add variety to their weekly menu.
“By becoming a collection point for The Good Food Bag, we hope to help Salford residents vary their diets and have fun whilst cooking something new.”
The Good Food Bag releases different menus each week. For the week commencing 1st February, meals include cowboy pie, chicken noodle bowl, spaghetti bolognese, and mac and cheese.
The £7 kits include all the ingredients and a recipe card to prepare a meal for four people. Once ordered, meal kits can be collected every Tuesday, Wednesday or Friday, 10am-3pm, from Lucie’s Pantry, Emmaus House, 101 Fitzwarren Street, Salford, M6 5RQ.
