Two of our favourite things – Manchester and chocolate – have come together thanks to Ramsbottom’s The Chocolate Café. The independent café, shop and mini chocolate factory based on Bolton Street has just launched a new selection of artisan truffles and they’ve been inspired by some famous home-grown flavours we all know and love.
Every month the chocolate team come up with a brand-new theme with a very limited number of boxes up for grabs. They have recently taken on a new chocolatier, Sarah, who specialises in creating beautiful, handcrafted truffles. Sarah and the team at The Chocolate Café couldn’t wait to create some fun, colourful and delicious artisan truffles dedicated to their home city.
This month’s box of 12 handmade truffles features four very exciting, utterly Mancunian flavours – Vimto, Uncle Joe’s Mint Balls, Manchester Tart and honey – for the worker bee of course.
The Vimto Truffle is a tribute to Manchester’s favourite soft drink and it certainly looks the part decorated with Vimto’s iconic colours. Underneath it features a white chocolate truffle filled with a rich white chocolate ganache and Vimto’s own jam.
Honey Worker Bee is a nod to the city’s ‘Worker Bee’ symbol and features a milk chocolate shell filled with a dark chocolate ganache infused with local honey.
Enjoy a blast from the past and indulge in the The Manchester Tart truffle which is a white chocolate truffle filled with a white chocolate custard ganache, raspberry jam and a sprinkle of coconut.
Take a trip down memory lane with your favourite retro mint sweet. This truffle dedicated to Wigan’s Uncle Joe’s Mint Balls features a milk chocolate truffle shell filled with a smooth dark mint chocolate ganache.
Marketing manager Kate Lockett said: “We have absolutely loved working on some new fun and innovative flavours for our new truffle range as the possibilities are endless when it comes to chocolate! We wanted to create something to represent the city we all know and love and that’s exactly what we have done with our ‘Flavours of Manchester’ truffles. They combine all of Manchester’s tastiest flavours and a nod to the city’s great history.”
