Ok, picture the scene… it’s match day, Manchester United are playing at Old Trafford in the Premier League, you fancy a cheap beer or two, you want the biggest and best HD screen you can feast your eyes on surrounded by a thousand mates singing your favourite football chants…

…Ta darrr… you’ve found yourself and the fantastic new Red Square Fanzone!!

“…it’s vastness does not swallow up any atmosphere, there is an old skool football buzz…”

This place has everything you could possibly want on a match day if you are a United supporter, including all the iconic Manchester music you know and love, I even bumped in to Rowetta from the Happy Mondays in there.

The location is Victoria Warehouse and it’s most commonly known as the home of the recently relocated Warehouse Project club night. The use of space is inspired and it’s exactly what it says on the tin – a warehouse. Strangely though it’s vastness does not swallow up any atmosphere, there is an old skool football buzz (reminiscent of when we used to congregate at the shops with a luke warm can of Stella) everybody is debating the previous weeks results and the impeding team line up and generally enjoying time with friends.

Red Sq 4

What is great here and what we all love is there is no queuing at the bar, it’s £2.50 a drink and there is plenty of choice too. Loads of seating and there’s a good mix of hardcore Stretford Enders along side Dad’s taking their kids to enjoy the Reds. On one side of the bar area there are retro space invader games and table football although due to the red ‘mood lighting’ it looked like it would be hard work to play!

No matter where you’re stood/standing you’re never in danger of not being able to see or hear the incredible HD screen……I measured it and it’s 2 million inches by 2 million inches….ok, it’s not but you get my drift. It’s massive!

Go and check this place out, you need a home match ticket to get in (for big games like the up coming Real Madrid match it’s pre bought ticketed affair to control numbers, £2) the drinks are cheap and there is a cracking gourmet burger van on the premises….a real burger!

Football, flags, music, food, chanting and a stones throw from the ground. It’s perfect!
