The iconic Mancunian rock band Oasis has officially announced their reunion, set to take place in 2025 with a series of highly anticipated shows around the globe.

This marks the first time brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher will perform together since the band’s dramatic split in 2009, ending a 15-year-long standoff that has kept fans eagerly waiting for their return.

Oasis reform

Oasis fans have spent the last decade and a half reliving the bittersweet memories of the band’s meteoric rise and sudden fall, all stemming from the infamous sibling rivalry between the Gallagher brothers.

The band’s final performance was abruptly cut short after a backstage altercation at the Paris Rock en Seine festival, where tensions boiled over and Liam reportedly wielded Noel’s guitar “like an axe.” The fallout from that incident led to Noel’s departure and the end of the Britpop legends—until now.

The reunion tour: what’s confirmed?

For those who have been patiently waiting, the reunion tour dates have been confirmed, with the band set to take the stage at some of the biggest venues in the UK and Ireland:

  • July 4, 5 – Cardiff, Principality Stadium
  • July 11, 12, 19, 20 – Manchester, Heaton Park
  • July 25, 26, August 2, 3 – London, Wembley Stadium
  • August 8, 9 – Edinburgh, Scottish Gas Murrayfield Stadium
  • August 16, 17 – Dublin, Croke Park

The band teased the announcement on social media with a cryptic message:

“The guns have fallen silent. The stars have aligned. The great wait is over. Come see. It will not be televised.”

A turning point in the Gallagher feud?

Definitely Maybe

While the tension between Noel and Liam Gallagher has been legendary, recent signs of reconciliation have emerged, making this reunion possible.

Fans have been following the brothers’ rollercoaster relationship closely, with both Gallagher siblings trading barbs over the years.

Liam’s regular Twitter campaigns to bring back Oasis were often met with silence from Noel, who focused on his successful solo career with the High Flying Birds.

But a recent series of late-night phone calls between the two seems to have thawed the frost, leading to what many thought would never happen.

“I never did like that word FORMER.”

Liam’s latest social media posts have been rife with hints, including a recent message where he wrote, “I never did like that word FORMER.”

He even dedicated the Oasis classic Half the World Away to Noel during a recent festival performance, further fueling speculation that the feud was finally over.

Noel, for his part, has also softened his stance. In a recent video interview with music journalist John Robb, Noel spoke warmly about his younger brother’s talents, even likening Liam’s voice to “10 shots of tequila on a Friday night” – He said he was more like “half a Guinness on a Tuesday night, self depreciatingly.

The growing sense of mutual respect has rekindled hope among fans that the brothers have truly buried the hatchet.

“A Massive Day for Manchester”

Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham weighed in on the reunion announcement during a BBC Breakfast interview this morning, calling it “the news we’ve all been waiting for.”

Burnham highlighted the cultural significance of the event, describing it as “a massive day for Manchester.”

With Oasis set to perform multiple shows at the city’s Heaton Park, their hometown will once again serve as a key backdrop for the band’s legacy.

Record-breaking potential and rumoured festival appearances

Oasis’s return will not only thrill fans but could also break records.

Music insiders are predicting a windfall for the band, with earnings potentially reaching £400 million from the tour alone.

There’s also speculation about high-profile festival appearances, including a possible headlining slot at Glastonbury—a festival Oasis last played in 2004, to mixed reviews.

The legacy of Oasis

Oasis’s return coincides with the 30th anniversary of their seminal album (What’s The Story) Morning Glory?, a milestone that underscores the band’s lasting impact on British music.

From their early days of swaggering onto the scene in the ’90s to their turbulent breakup, Oasis has left a huge hole in Britain’s music scene.

Now, with this long-awaited reunion, they’re poised to write the next chapter in their storied career.

For Oasis fans, the long and winding road to this reunion has been worth it. Now, as Noel and Liam prepare to share the stage once more, the world waits with bated breath to see what happens when the two brothers finally roll with it again.
