It’s more important than ever that we support the small local businesses in our towns and neighbourhoods.
Northern campaign Fiver Fest was designed to level the playing field, and to give a hand to small independent businesses.
It’s part of Totally Locally, an idea put together by Chris Sands, an award-winning expert in branding and marketing based in Hebden Bridge. Chris’ motto is: “Love where you live – you might just make it better”.
The idea is simple: it’s all about spending £5 to help your local high street, and put some money back into the local economy. Because spending just £5 per week in your local independent shops and businesses can make a huge difference to your town, including more jobs and opportunities.
It’s also a chance to explore your town and find out about all the great shops and restaurants that are there – and perhaps to try somewhere new.
Over 100 towns are taking part this month, including several across the region. The businesses involved are all independents – no large chains, franchises or national charities.
37 local businesses are taking part in Sale alone – mainly thanks to the tireless enthusiasm of local business owner Claire Hines from Hall and Hines, a shop based at Emporium M33, who organised the event.
And one of the top places with a special £5 deal this year is Mano a Bocca – which offers an authentic Romana pizza experience like nowhere else in the North.
Based in Sale, just a short tram journey from Manchester city centre, this pizzeria brings the spirit and flavours of Rome to a beautiful waterside plaza in South Manchester.
And now, thanks to Fiver Fest, you can try their deliciously thin, crispy pizzas this month for just a fiver.
You can get any pizza for just £5 when you buy something else from the menu – whether that’s a starter, dessert or drink.
It’s a chance to try some of their authentic 11” Romana style pizzas for less, such as the Calabria, which is topped with nduja sausage, red onions, chilies and potato as well as fior di latte and goats cheese.
Or perhaps you’d prefer their broccoli vegan pizza, consisting of a butternut squash base topped with red onion and tenderstem broccoli which is cooked in chilli, with chickpeas, garlic and vegan mozzarella on top.
The offer, which runs until 24th October, launched on Saturday – and Mano a Bocca say their town has been buzzing all weekend with people supporting the local shops and businesses.
Now’s your chance to join them in supporting the local high street – and you’ll get to try some top pizza to boot.
The Fiver Fest promotion – £5 for any pizza when you buy a starter, dessert or drink – runs until 24th October at Mano a Bocca, Waterside Plaza, Sale. Booking is recommended.
